John Davi (Astoria's Founder and CIO) participated in a webcast with Tom Lydon (Editor and Publisher of ETF Trends), and Sal Bruno (CIO and Managing Director from IndexIQ), to discuss the usage of liquid alternatives in a portfolio.
Astoria have been heavy users of liquid alternatives in our Multi Asset Risk Strategy (MARS) ETF Portfolio. Why? Mainly to add diversification to our portfolio in attempt to produce more attractive risk adjusted returns during both up and down markets.
Astoria believes given where we are in the economic cycle, Fed rate hikes, liquidity declining on the margin, pockets of expensive valuation for the US market, rising rates, and inflation rising, that liquid alts serve a valuable asset in multi asset portfolios.
